A Triple Play?

A judge has refused to triple Samsung’s (financial) penalty of $1.o5 Billion Dollars against Apple (which if set-down could’ve in all probability bankrupted the firm if it actually paid said amount out).

Vine’s Too ‘Sexy’ For…

In short order, Vine just might go from achieving an overwhelming vindication (for their creators) to being vilified (from Apple) due to the proliferation of adult content (e.g., p*rn) therein and the high likelihood said application will get removed from iTunes as a result.

A Free-for-all?

Antigua could be the next (big) P2P base if the nation’s plan to be granted permission to run a piracy web-site is granted (by the WTO of all entities!)

< 1 Billion Sold.

With roughly 700 million Smartphones sold (1/2 of the overall market was dominated by Samsung & Apple – in that order globally last year)… the market is indeed slowing down.

Potentially the biggest caveat in all of this is simply: what next? In other words, where do the market leaders go from here? Will 2013 see RIM largely fade away? And, can the Win-kia alliance begin to gain significant traction against their behemoth competition?

A Troubling Trend.

With more than 2/3 of all governmental requests for individual / end-user data originating from within America (aside from continuing to increase globally) two points are worth noting: one) how unaware the vast majority of people are the world-over regarding this reality; and; two) the implications that this is having on civil liberties (and/or the lack thereof).

Granted, in the Facebook-era whereas Social Networking has become ubiquitous, end-users also ultimately are contributing their data (for mining). However, that also calls into question how pre-existing Public Domain laws are in all probability obsolete regarding this relatively new phenomenon.

Dear Prudence.

Add 500px to the list of (now) former iTunes’ applications that Apple has removed due to inappropriate content.
